The NYT's latest daily word game, Connections, has quickly gained popularity. Conceived by associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, it challenges players to group 16 words into four distinct categories. Available on both web browsers and mobile devices, the game requires players to find connections among seemingly unrelated words.
Each puzzle presents 16 words that need to be sorted into four categories. The categories could include anything from book titles to software or countries. While many words might seem to fit together, only one arrangement is correct. Correctly grouping four words removes them from the board, but getting a group wrong counts as a mistake—players have up to four mistakes before the game ends.
Players can shuffle and rearrange the board to help identify connections. The categories are color-coded by difficulty: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, players can share their results on social media.
