The NYT’s Connections game has quickly gained popularity as a daily brain teaser. Developed with input from associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, this game challenges players to categorize 16 given words into four distinct groups, each containing four words that share a common theme.
Each puzzle consists of 16 words, which need to be grouped into four categories. Categories can range from various themes such as book titles, software names, country names, and more. Although several words might seem to fit together, there’s only one correct grouping for each set. You’re allowed up to four mistakes before the game ends.
Players can shuffle and rearrange the board to help identify connections more easily. The categories are color-coded by difficulty: yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. As with Wordle, you can share your results on social media to challenge your friends.
